Spring Break is finally here, and the urge to travel, always itching at me under the skin, has finally overcome me.

So I'm leaving for Tennessee (Townsend, TN, to be specific) tomorrow morning (3am!). I hope to bring back LOTS of good pictures, and hopefully no new scars (okay, maybe a few), and no snake bites!

We're really hoping for hellbenders, and I have some good indication of where they've been historically, and a friend going with me incidentally electroshocked one last field season while electrofishing for trout. So hopefully we can find that one again, or some in that watershed.

Wish me luck! I'll see you all again around Monday!

Good luck. Don't bring back any ticks either.

Let's hope not. I hate ticks. I'm not creeped out by much, but they're just.... really gross.

Yeah ticks suck to say the least, and lyme disease medication just as well. But good luck. Can't wait to hear back!

Good luck. With all the rain we've been having in the area you should fair well with Pleths. Still a little chilly to be in the water looking for benders though, I'll wait until July!

Found about a dozen species. And the river was a little too surging to go wading for benders. Sad. I'll just have to go back out. I'll post pics when I'm more conscious (I was trapped in Ohio from the blizzard for 2 days).

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
