I have managed to move a couple of my axies to the basement. I checked the water temps last night and it is running about 59.5 F. Should I add supplemental heat for the winter or should they be fine?

I hope to be able to move the rest of them down there over the weekend. ( pending the answer to this question)

Nope. No need to add any kind of heat. Axies will be fine at 59. At cooler temps, they tend to eat and move around less, but it's better to have a colder tank than a warmer one.

I agree this is ok, they are still surprisingly active down to 10C, approximately 50F. Cool is best.
