#Taricha Update & Photos#

Heya! I just thought I'd drop some photos of my buddies. Big girl is doing great now. I guess the vomitting problem passed on its own.

I cleaned their tank out and decided to just get a filter. I took out all of the live plants except the pothos. It was hard, but I think they really like having space to swim. They also have plants to sit on while in the water so I'm happy. Now that I have them eating out of tweezers, things are much better. Thanks so much for all the help!!

what kind of plant in the large one in the first photo? Nice setup, they are spoiled

Pothos! The ubiquitous ivy! I have it in all my tanks. It just works well for any kind of setup.

Glad to see yours are doing well. I have one who still won't put on weight, but does eat occasionally. The other one is quite porky. I'm going to keep them in quarantine for another month.

Amazing photos! They look quite happy with your set-up choice.

It's always lovely to see Taricha photos.

Just to kind of throw my two Taricha cents into the pot, my two newest ones are getting on well. I thought I saw them amplexing the other day, but the male was just climbing over the female. She is still not eating regularly, but does eat more often. I offer her food 4x a week, she usually takes it once a week.

How big of a tank is that? How deep is the water? I keep about 6" of water in mine, but I might increase it a bit.

Jeff, you really DO have to ask permission before you use someone else's photos (or any part of them).

It doesn't matter how or where they're posted, photos are the property of the person who shot them. It's quite nice of Mark S. not to mind.

Hey, thanks guys! The pothos is working well. It's a 10 gallon, wish it was bigger but that's all I can do for now. The water is 7.5 inches deep, sometimes closer to 8

Your tank looks very well designed, with the available space well-utilized. I'd say that a 10-gallon is just fine for the two of them, no worries.

Thanks, I really appreciate the support. I think if I keep up the partial water changes and all that jazz, that the 10 gallon will work alright. They spend most of their time sitting in the plants anyway.

oops, I forgot about the picture, I was going to change it when I left. I had a huge problem to to convert some jpegs that I had and basically spent hours trying to get this head shot I had to work. So I gave up and the next day I say your picture and realized that it was a perfect duplicate of one of mine with the lighting I was trying to get, So I just used that in the meantime. I totally forgot to change it, I'm really sorry, but I havn't been around in a long time and plan to change it asap.

Like I said, don't worry about it, I don't mind.
You can use the picture if you'd like.

Your tank looks like newt heaven. Great job on taking the pictures too. I like the pipe you have in your tank.

thanks! The pvc pipe is covered with the rocks I used on the floor, glued on with silicone.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
