Sold in the pet trade as T. granulosa:

I bought 3 of these about a month ago. They look different from the 2 I already had. The following things are noticeable:
- their tails are shorter
- their eyes are more frog like protruding
- the toes on their hind feet are more developed
- all three left the water
- there are more pronounced black spots in the yellow part of their skin.

Hi Ester,

Congrats on getting more Tarichas.

From only the photos and your description (I don't think the eyes protrude very much), they still have more T. granulosa characteristics than T. torosa.

Hi Ester,

there is no (or only a very slight chanche) to distinguish these species in adult stage. But the chances for T.granulosa are >99%.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
