Very nice, what's so unusual about the 2nd picture?

Wow, that dark eyed Taricha is really striking! Those eyes really capture you. I love the normal Taricha, but that's just unusual.

Sorry i read it wrong I thought it said "and a more unusual specimen."

Beautiful pictures as always Ester. Who couldn't love a Taricha? Those black eyes are amazing, I'm blown away!

The one thing I love about all of your pictures is your Tarichas looks like they have been having a great time playing in the dirt. They remind me of little kids who need their faces wiped. I chuckle every time I see a picture of one of your Tarichas and there is dirt hanging from its face.
Correct me if I am wrong but I do not think the first Taricha is blind. Enigma is a fancy word for something that can't be explained. I would like to know also though, because the eyes come out passed the top part of the head in the pictures are they torosa?

The dark eyed one is definitely not blind, she just lacks the yellow/gold pigment in the eyes. As for granulosa/torosa, I simply can't tell. I have never seen a 100% certified torosa and Pin pin always tells me torosa is rare in the pet trade, even if it as sold as such doesn't mean it has to be a torosa.
And yes, I too believe they are a happy band of merry making newts who enjoy life, each other, wax worms, earth worms, blood worms..

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
