Your granulosa are really dark! Mine's more of a light olive color. I love the personalities of these guys. They're so inquisitive!

Hi Joan. I have a handful of them, and two or three are lighter in color. And yes, they are quite inquisitive and quite hardy. Truly a perfect newt (except for that whole "deadly poison" thing).

Your Tarichas do look quite dark, though it might be the lighting.
I had a few torosas metamorphose recently, I love it when they first climb out of the water, they're so brightly orange.
Excuse the bad photos and tank messiness, I just grabbed my camera and shot a few quick rounds of the most striking fellow.

They're so adorable, I'm willing to overlook the deadly poison thing. Just dont kiss your newts. Pin-Pin, those are awesome little guys. Do you know where I could get another one? I'm aware newts are not 'social' in general, but I think mine would be more entertained following around one of her own kind instead of following me around.

Very nice Jeff! They have really neat little personalities (can newts have personalities?
) I think they do. All of mine (all species), each have their own "thing" going -- shy, bold, nosy, piggy, etc. The Tarichas are very bold (once they get to know ya), and are endless beggars. Also, I think they come out just to observe me --"What a strange creature that is, and it brings us food!"
They are just way too much fun.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. Hopefully today will be the day that they will be put back into their 55-gallon home. I'll be posting a thread soon on this tank and the waterfall/stream combo I made for it. Look for this in the "Photos of vivariums" section.
