Oh Leanne! I wanted to see, but it seems your pictures are not appearing.

Awww!! These guys are my favorite species. Great personalities, and just so darn cute.

Can I see a pic of the enclosure? Do they need any land? I have two of these right now, you can see the pics here:

Any and all advice will be welcomed. I'm waiting for a zoomed 501 turtle canister filter to clean their water. I feed them full grown earthworms, which they devour. I believe I have a pair.
Thanks

P.S. mine have shed but they don't eat their skin, is that a bad sign? Or are they just full of earthworm?
And one last question before I forget, the earthworms I give them are about 9 inches long, how often do I need to feed them?

Hey Andrew...the mods will probably tell you to put this in the help section, but I'll answer you anyway. I looked at your enclosure, looks nice but I would go with WAY more water. T grans only need a little land, i just have a floating piece of corkbark in mine and lots of plants they can hang out on top of. The water level in my tank is on;y about three inches from the top.

I would feed them every other two or three days.

Christopher: If you read the title of this thread it tells you that the newt is shedding it's skin, those are not babies.

I have about nine inches of water in my tank. I keep 4 T.grans in a 40long. I bought them a floating Turtle Log by ZooMed, and they have some free-floating elodea. They get no other land, and only rarely are doing more than sticking their head out of the water for more than a minute. I use an internal filter (Duetto 100) and a sponge filter on opposite corners.

Thanks everyone for the comments on the pictures---all my "normal" non-caudate friends and relatives I sent these to were totally grossed out, heh!

Andrew, I agree with Ali on the water thing, I have a setup like how Joan is describing, with mostly water, a screen lid, a Whisper filter, and a floating island of land just in case Grendel wants to go on land (which she never does!). As far as not eating the skin they shed, some newts don't----they just leave it hanging somewhere on a plant or something like laundry!
Hope these pics help, and it sounds like your feeding routine is working for your newts (and they are beautiful, your Kookie and Be Bop a Lula).
