Tape-like thingies?

I just found a clear, tape-like thing in my newts set-up. It wasn't swimming, it wasn't even alive, but it was about 4 inches long and clear. I didn't touch it, I got it out with a turkey baster. Any ideas what it was?

Your newt probably just shed its skin.

Sometimes newts will eat their skin. This is okay.

Coll! Thanks! Do newts eat less when shedding? I have noticed a decline in appetite of one of my newts...

somtimes but they shed there skin all the time if you don't see the skin in the water it probably would of ate it and if it does i suppose it wont be hungry but somtimes my newt just has a couple off days where it eats nothing then after that it will eat and so on
