I am setting up my new tank ready for my boy to arrive this week.
I have been told that tap water and tapsafe is fine to use (I use the same for my fish and they are very happy and healthy little(rather large) fellas!)

I have a filter and airpump already in the new tank and Im getting a plant from his habitat now to put in my tank for a few days as well before he comes to stay.

Im super excited to get him and want to make sure everything is perfect for him - hes about 2years old.

Also all you guys in hot countries Im so jealous you need to cool your tanks! Its cold enough all year round in the UK! I worry mine will need heated! lol!

Welcome! Hehe i bet your excited to get your axie :D

Have you cycled your tank before you get him? The (almost) Complete Guide and FAQ to Fishless Cycling - Aquarium Advice - Aquarium Forum Community

Have a read of this if you havent, its a brilliant guide.
You wont need to heat your tank though, and at the end instead of a 90% water change do daily 30% changes to bring the nitrate down :D

Most dechlorinators are fine, just make sure it detoxifies chlorine/chloramine and heavy metals :p

Good luck and enjoy your new friend!

I am in the UK and I need to actively cool my tank because my wife keeps turning up the central heating to excessively hot levels, grrr!
