This last picture is the axie and some rests of a skin molt. At least I think it is. I found the piece of skin the day after my axie had gone mad, trying to bite her hind leg.

My axie has also had some trouble with diarea lately, but after changing the diet from codfish to a strict mosquito-larva diet she got les bloated and her poops got healthy

Fantastic setup!

Have you tried feeding her earthworms too, they make a great food source?

No, I just can't get my hands on some... It isn't the season for them. But it's really genius to de-frost mosquito larva and mix with gelatine, and then freeze again. My axie loves it and no mess when feeding

Tina youve got a great set up hun!! Its gorgeous!
Your substrate looks great and i love your choice in plants!! Especially towards the left of the tank, where the plants are scattered through the logs! You must have a very happy little axie

Shes very cute and looks very well fed!!

Very healthy looking axie!!

** green with envy over tank set up **

Is that some scattered anubis plants to the left? Is the large rock and the logs real?? They look great!

Have you ever thought about getting her a friend? that tank is more than big enough, or is she your special baby girl?

Sarah: Unfortunately axolotls are illegal in Norway at the time, and I don't want to gamble by bringing one more over the boarder
errr.gif
The first one was a mindless mistake, but I love her and I don't regret it, though my conscience was killing me for a while....

Tina, lovely setup

That is also a great plant guide you made :D

Don't feel bad, you didn't know, and you only have one
happy.gif
no harm done what so ever.

Thanks so much everyone for all the nice comments

By the way I forgot to mention Jojo, the log is an African Mopani-root for aquarium use. The rock is of a syntethic material with a cave inside, and a feeding dish on top.

i love your set up too and i didn't know you could keep anubias in cold water, i only have elodea in my tank but my axolotl is still a baby and only in a 2ft tank

cheers

Sarah

Mary: In 1977 the Norwegian animal welfare department decided it was to cold here in Norway to keep reptiles and amfibians. The government is about to change this, and a small collection of animals will be legalised in 2008, including axies

Your plant guide did answer my question.. and all the other questions that WERE going to follow hehe

happy.gif

Why would such cute little guys be illegal...did someone not tell me how dangerous they are?! ^.^ She is beautiful and this is a truly beautiful set up, 5 stars!

Thanx for all the nice comments. I really appreciate it. Lotl hasn't been eating for a month now, but finally, she ate an earthworm today

Here she is in a "quarantene" tank so I could keep a closer eye on her.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
