I keep wondering what volume my 3ft tank actually is + using this online calculator Quick Calculator for Aquariums I've just calculated it as approx. 23 UK gallons ;)
Sorry if there's already 1 of these posted somewhere in the forum - I couldn't find 1 + figured it might be handy to share

I like this site because it does quick celcius to farenheit conversions, as well as offering different equations for different shaped aquariums (like cylindrical and hexagonal tanks), and converting hardness levels from ppm to litres. It includes Litres, US gallons and UK gallon converters too, quite the handy converter when talking to trying to visualize tanks that people have around the world.

Thanks for that link, makes it easier than a load of scribbles on paper :p

Calculators are useful for estimating tank volumes but I always measure the water in after putting in sand/stones ornaments (or for fish but not axolotls-gravel) on first filling the tank. I mark the water level after each 10L (I'm metric even though I can talk imperial or american gallons) This way I have a calibrated volume scale of felt tip marker lines giving water volume.

The lines allow you to calibrate water changes or get doses of medication or other water treatments right without worry. You can put the scale on the side or back if you do not want it to be too visible.
