I currently have found a 175 gallon tank. As I haven't any experience with any tanks over 29 gallons I was wondering if this one would be capable of holding water. The person selling it says it should be able to hold water. However I have heard that some terrariums have thinner glass than aquariums for holding water and may not support the pressure. I want to be sure before I fully purchase this item that I can put water in it for axolotls.

As I figured a tank this size would be perfect for a single axolotl.

The dimensions on the tank are 3ftL x 1.5ftH x 1ftW

The picture is below and any and all possible pointers on what I should be looking for are greatly appreciated and very well received. Thank you so much!

I am also extremely sorry for stretching this page with the picture. I am new and any pointers on not doing this again would be appreciated.

I think you mean 175L, my tank is 3ft and it holds 179L... Your tank actually looks a lot smaller than 3ft though?

If it is originally built for a vivarium, I wouldn't be so confident in it holding water. 175L is heavy!

It is not 175 gallons xD Not by a loooooong shot. It's the same size as a 30 breeder. (36x18x12 which = 3 feet x 1.5 feet x 1 foot)

edit: whoops ninja'd twice

but other than that I don't know much about terrariums - I'm not sure if they have thinner glass or not. I would do some research on how thick most aquariums are and compare.

oh! Crud you might be right.

The advertisement listed it as a 175 gallon but when I asked the dimensions I was told it was 36x12x18 Inches

Even when I calculate it by that it comes up as a 29 gallon tank.

Of course now I feel completely silly for thinking this was too good to be true.

Well, that sucks. However 3ft can still hold 3-4 axolotls pretty comfortably. Double check with the manufacturer perhaps? (if they still have their sticker on it)

Well I wanted to build it into a planted tank. That means plenty of extra weeks to let plants grow and stuff before adding an Axolotl into the mix. I'm obsessed with the idea of making a very natural looking tank. Since the sight of broken pots really turns me off with landscapes. That's why I want a large one for just one. MAYBE two axolotls.

Thank you all so very much for the advice and everything. Looks like the best route for me to go so far is from Pet smart. They have a 20 long that only costs $40 Great deal in my opinion. Since most tanks are 100+ in price.

I was thinking that was a hella big spray bottle in the photo.

Ooops thought I had hit the reply button. Looks like I hadn't.
We don't have a petco anywhere near by. To be honest I've never even heard of it. I wonder if that means it's just an american store. Then again I can build my own 55 Gallon tank for $30.00 so that will be the route I'm going.
Love all the advice I've been given you guys are great!
