what is the recommended tank size for a single axolotl and a pair of axolotls? I think my tank may be too small for my pair so I am considering moving one to a separate tank to allow them both more space

An adult needs at least 10gallons (37 liters?) and a pair would need at least 20 gallons (about 75 liters)

Make sure that your tanks are longer than they are deep. Ample floor space is just as important as number of gallons. Having a 20 gallon tank won't mean much if it's too tall for the axolotls to have good room to roam on the ground.

Since US gallons are not the same a UK gallons I'll work in litres. It's what we use over here anyway.

30-40L per axie, plus some for ornaments etc. So 60L for one, 80L+ for 2.

I have 4 adults in a 150L/3 ft tank.
But I'm saving for one of these! (it's 6 ft long, and 680L)
