Just a quick question! I want to keep my 2 axolotls in a tank together. They are basically full size and I have a male and female. The tank I want to put them in is a 65 gallon which is 36 inches by 18 inches. Would they get along in there with lots of hiding places or should I just keep them apart?
Thanks!

They generally get along, but sometimes specific axolotls won't, just like some people don't. They aren't territorial. (This evening, three of my axolotls were all jammed in the same hiding place, leaving 2 empty hides and one with only one axolotl.)

Are you willing to deal with eggs? Generally, males and females "get along" rather well during breeding season.

Can you put in a divider? That would reduce the egg problem as well as any risk of aggression.

They can live together in the 65 gallon tank, but they will most likely start breeding. A lot. Sometimes in captivity axies will breed every few weeks all year round, which is extremely stressful for the female. So a divider would be great. If you want them to have company you can find some adult axies so you can get ones that are the same sex.
