Tank Size Question...

Is a 55 gallon long tank large enough for three axies? I have one axie in there now and would like to get two more.

The substrate is fine sand, the tank is kept cool, and I have about 6 live plants, 3 fake plants and two large rocks with holes in them for hiding. This tank is in a dark, cool place and direct light is rarely on it. Do you think three axolotls would be comfortable in there?

Although US gallons are different to UK gallons......when you say 55 you DO mean gallons, NOT litres?

A 55 is fine for 3 Axolotls...a 55 gallon tank is 4ft long..I plan on keeping 4 Axolotls in a 55 when they all become the same size.

Yes, my 55 gallon is about 4 feet long and 1.5 feet deep. I'm lucky that I live in a relatively cool-weather area. The tank temperature never goes beyond 65 degrees and is usually at a cool 60. My current axolotl has grown to almost beastly proportions, so hopefully the other two, when they arrive - thrive.

Here's the conversion for you folks from the U.K.
55 U.S. gallons = 45.80 U.K. gallons
55 U.S. gallons = 208.2 liters

I have 4 in my 55 and they do fine. They are about 6" long now and it's easy to keep the water stable. There is plenty of room to avoid feeding squabbles.
3 would be great. :happy:
