I have a pentagon shaped tank 46 gal 24" tall and I am thinking about making it in to an axolotl tank. I want to have it planted tank, thinking of doing moss walls and ground also with plastic canvas mess(question is best way to attach mesh to walls). Also having easy background plants, a canister filter. To slow water I was thinking of putting a 6" wide divider in back (for filter hose, air hoses, etc.) going 2" off bottom of tank and all the way up with 2"x2" cut out (mess covering up hole) 8" from top with suction down near sand/substrate suitable for axolotls to out flow the water behind divider flowing into tank. Need help with plants, type of mosses, canister filter, substrate and light do not want to get a chiller so guessing LED but I want enough light to where I can add more plants if wanted. Also gong to start plants first with slightly above axolotls temp for faster growth then move on to guppies then axolotls. All input is appreciated, I know it's a lot of info also. Pics also.

As a keeper of guppies and seven axolotls......not kept together, I would say your tank is perfect for guppies...but the floor space is too small for potentially a 30 cm axolotl. By the time you add plants and a hide the floor space will be small, even though the volume of water is fine. Axolotl don't need such depth of water......more floor space instead.
Guppies are tropical so if the plants suit their needs they won't do so well in the cold water needed for axolotl.

Noooooooo! I meant the plants wouldn't do so well in the colder water....not the guppies.lol

I am going to try to sell tank and get a 48"x18"x13" or 48"x24"x17"so it will meet my needs and animals needs as well.
