Hey guys I'm hoping some one can help me trouble shoot... 1 quick note

I'm going to tell you we have our 6 months axoe in a 10 gallon tank but that's not his forever home. Its his intermediate home he was tabbed as a baby and he's still pretty small so we figured we'd do the 10 gal until he was more full size and then could go into a 20.

So while tubbing our axie we started to ready the tank. I used beneficial bacteria for the reccomended amount of time and tested parameters and it looked good to go.
(This was back in dec)

Our anxiety spent a week in the tank and by the end of the week the water visible needed a change. (Yes it is a filtered tank)

We tried a water change of 25 percent and when it didn't reduce ammonia levels we went back to tubbing her while we got the parameters correct.

So we did many water changes and rinsed the filters and decor and then after 3 or 4 weeks the levels were good and the parameters were all good except... we have very hard water in our town so that makes the water hard and all high ... we have added some fresh plants and our axie back into the tank..m but I cannot get the ammonia reading to go down. All other reading are in the correct parameters. Water looks clean.

- We've been doing daily water changes 25 to 50%
- and have 2 filters 1 is got a 30 to 50 gal tank and one is for a 20 gal.tank (reminder we are using only a 10 gal tank right now)......

Why can I not seem to get these ammonia levels under control? I've actually tested tap water to male sure my api liquid test kit was working and it seems to be...

Axie looks happy skin looks good Shea eating Shes mega lazy but seems ok other wise.... thoughts?

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
