Hey everyone! I have searched the site and have not been able to find a recommendation for a heater for my axie tank. I have a 30 Gal tank that I have been using a fan to keep cool. If I don't use the fan the temp soars up to 75F sometimes but if I leave it on the temp drops so low it doesn't register on my thermometer (it is the kind you peel and stick on the side of the tank and it only shows a range of 64-86F) So I am trying to find a heater that will only keep it from getting too cold and keep the temp steady with the fan on. I haven't been able to find one that has a low enough heat setting. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Get a real thermometer and measure how warm your tank is.

Unless your tank is actually icing over, I wouldn't put a heater in it. Axolotls do fine at temperatures down into the 50F's.

It's only technically too cold if the water freezes :p You do not need a heater.

64'F is still quite a good temperature for the tank to be at, i have seen heaters about that start at 18'C which is about 64'F

if you do find one i wouldnt risk getting a cheap one as i have heard horror stories of them breaking an boiling your fish/amphibians

also its not uncommon for people to put Axolotls in outside ponds and stand low temperatures ok

Awesome! Thanks for the FAST input! I love this site! I won't worry then  I'm also thinking of getting this Emperor 280 Power Filter. What do you think? Emperor 280 Power Filter

Looks like a decent filter. I'm curious how effective the 'adjustable spraybar' really is.

Just provide your dude with a consistant temperature, rather than letting it swing wildly all over the place.

I wound up moving them into a 55gal and getting an Einheim canister filter with a spray bar. I just pointed the spray at the glass so there is barely any current. the bigger tank stays nice and cool without the fans (average 64°F) and the filter is nice and quiet. I planted live plants on a large piece of mopani wood (after soaking and rinsing it to get rid of the color) They seem to enjoy the setup and I'm happy with how it turned out.
