Tank doesn't seem to be cycling

My tank had taken months and still not completed cycling, so I took Mortimer out and kept him in a small tub (100% daily water changes). I put his poop in the cycling tank when I found it, and stopped doing water changes altogether. It finished cycling in a matter of a week or two. And saved me a lot of anxiety about him being in potentially dangerous water.

Sorry for butting in. Did you gradually do water changes over time to get the water clean to reintroduce your axie after it had finished cycling?

Ok I have wanted to ask this for awhile, and now seems the right time to ask.
What do you guys think about the Carib-Sea Instant Aquarium Substrates and the Quick Start products that are out there.
I have used both with my fish aquariums with great results, but I don't know if they are ok for use with the Axolotls.
I really like the results I get when using with my fish. I have a few tanks and cycling was driving me crazy until I used these products

Most people seem to not like them and I've had varying results myself. I know of some people that have had success with Stability, but it did nothing for my tank. I tried the store brand of the LFS where I bought my axie and that seemed to help to jump-start the cycle, but didn't instantly cycle it and it still took another dose and about a month for it to complete.

Hello, I've had my 2 baby, 2months old, Axlotols for 6 days in their tank. I use fresh, running water from the beck by my house and I've been taking about 3/4 of the water out every other day. It's very warm at the moment so I keep trying to keep the water fresh but it's a bit greeny looking. Binky and Moog seem happy but I worry about the colour...I checked the alcoline levels and its fine, please can anyone help me with the greeny water? Thanks:confused::confused:
