I was doing water changes in my tanks today and got to wondering how everyone else goes about cleaning and water changing their tanks?
As and when needed I use a turkey baster to suck up uneaten food and random debris.
When doing a water change I shoot any rubbish on the bottom of the tank with a turkey baster to get it down to one corner of the tank. Next I use a spare pump connected to tubing like a vacuum cleaner to suck up most of the rubbish and dirtiest water. I then replace the water I pump out with clean treated water.
I find this works well for me as to help keep the water cleaner I don't use any kind of substrate, it probably wouldn't work otherwise.
So what does everyone else do? any special tips?
