Hey, can anyone help me out, my almost 5 year old axolotl had a big scare last night. I tripped when trying to feed her (I have blisters on my feet from work and it's very hard to walk) and I slammed into her tank and almost knocked her over but it's ok. No water spilled, her lid fell off and she flipped out and buried herself. After I finished fixing her tank, I fed her, she ate without hesitation, an earth worm. But after eating, she went back into her hiding spot and hasn't really come out since. She came out to greet me when I got home from work then slowly snuck back into her hole. Is she just freaked out by the incident, or is something else going on? Can such a sudden jolt disrupt her tank cycle? I had just cleaned her tank the day before too. Am I just being super paranoid? I almost knocked my sweet baby aqua pet over, so I am extremely freaked out now. That wasn't even the first trip of the day, I tripped like minute one getting home from work...

Please let me know, I hope I didn't crash her cycle, I'm assuming I didn't. Right?

axolotls do seem to get shocked pretty easily but should get over it.
as for crashing the tanks cycle, it shouldn't do but the tanks parameters should be tested regularly so you should know if there is a change.

If she flipped out of the tank then she might have gotten injured a bit or even if she flipped inside the tank. But it sounds like she's eating and might just be fine and a little bit spooked from the incident. Maybe consider getting a cane or something like that if you're dealing with blisters on your feet. Also, bag balm and Aquaphor are great to use on blisters - apply daily - and that should help your feet out a bit. I go around barefoot routinely so I can relate well to blisters on the feet - of course, going around barefoot eventually builds up calluses.

@wolfen

Her tank parameters are fine, just checked them this afternoon.

She ate her worm today, came out of her hidey hole to eat it, but after eating, she crawled back in, so I am guessing she's a big freaked out. She didn't fall out of her tank or anything, She's reacting to stimuli and everything, just, not showing herself. Bums me out. All I gotta do is make it to Christmas Eve, and then we're good. Everyone at work either is sick or has covid proper, so we're very limited on people, hence why I have blisters on my feet. Doing the job of 2 people in one shift.

Thanks to you both again, I was really freaked out by it, probably more than she was...

Highly recommend the bag balm or the Aquaphor then! Just spread it on your feet after and before shifts (after you take your shower, BTW) and it will keep your feet smooth.
