Hello everyone,
Everyone knows that axolotls can regenerate any body part, including their tails. However, I read in Peter Scott's book that they lose most of the this ability if they are induced to undergo metamorphosis.
Does this mean that the regenerative ability is something only larvae have? Do any adult Caudates regularly undergo regeneration of lost tails and limbs? Is it something all Caudates do, or just a few species?
Thanks in advance. I'm doing a research project, and need a place to start.
