What does it mean if a salamander curls its entire tail to the side? I recently aquired it, and read it's because of stress or death- but read somewhere only if it was the tip of the tail? I just want a straight answer, it's a Jefferson salamander by the way. Though I guess it would be understandable if it was stress because of a new environment, but just to be sure.

Another unrelated question: Would it be okay to keep the jefferson salamander in the same tank as a red back salamander?

I have newts and they curl their tail when they are scared.

What about keeping the two species together?

The Jeffersons will eat the redback. Do you have a picture of it?
