I have some Triturus marmoratus, cb 2007 that I have kept terrestrial since metamorphosising, that I was planning to put into a semi aquatic set up next spring.
However I sorted out the set up last week, and couldn't wait to put them into their new home.
As soon as I upgraded to the new set up, 3 went into the water within minutes, these three have stayed in the water, with the male starting to crest up.
This is the third time Ive had this happen, they dont seem to want to wait untill the spring, but come into breeding condition as soon as they are placed into a semi aquatic set up.
The quickest Ive had this happen is at just over one year old, but with those, although the males crested up and started tail fanning etc, the females werent ready to breed untill the following year.
