T. marmoratus everwhere

Hi, i can´t help but see that here a lot of ppl own T.marmoratus and my question is....where do you get them from?????? It´s completely illegal to take them from the wild and i would never think about it....but i´ve been searching for years fro captive born ones with no luck...
So where do you get them from??? do you buy them in shops??? order them online???
If anyone knows of a seller that can ship to spain please let me know...
I´m in love with this species since i was 7.
 
rodrigo, en europa hay muchas personas que las crian, primero deberias ver si es eprmitido en tu pasi tenerlas como mascotas, luego si es permitido, contactar a alguien que las cire y este dispuesto a vendertelas o regalartelas, y por ultimo esperar que llegue su periodo de reproduccion.
La mayoria de personas que las poseen las han obtenido de persoans que las han reproducido. Es muy facil y seguro enviar los huevos y asi podras ver su nacimiento y crecimiento.
No pierdas la paciencia en tu busqueda y espera. vale la pena
 
Rodrigo: I got mine CB. Appearantly there are a lot of people here that breed them succesfully, I can imagine it's a bit harder in the spanish climate, unless it's pygmaeus.
 
Actually this species is highly common in spain, it inhabits in half of it.
I know there are ppl who breed them...i just can´t find them!!!! Is there any breeder in the net?? Where did you buy yours Coen???
 
Here is my advice Rodrigo... spend some time on this forum, and have patience. There are other Spaniards that are seen here occasionally, and they can probably help you (eventually) to find some captive bred. In the meantime, there are probably some other species you can get experience with.

Also... are you sure that it is legal to keep marmoratus in captivity in Spain? Some countries make it illegal to keep native species, even if they are CB.
 
I can´t say i´m 100% sure. I´ve been told it is legal.
Once the guy at the petshop i usually go said he knew of ppl who had them He said they wer cb and that they got them in Barcelona. He also told me he wasgoing to ask them to get a pair for me but i never knew anything more about it.
I don´t think any herp is illegal here as long as it is cb or has the proper papers.
I´ll try and make sure.
 
It is legal in spain as long as you can prove that they are captive bred. So you need a written and signed piece of paper of the breeder who hands it over to you when you get the animals. Or, if you buy them from someone outside of Spain you need the ticket with a name on it, or a signed piece of paper like above.

That's for what I know from other spanish people who keep native species. But...as in Spain there are different regions which are more autonomous you should always check.

Rodrigo; there are several spanish people keeping T. marmoratus. Search this site a bit more and you will find some persons who will probably be able to help you.
But...as you know, this species breeds in spring, so you probably have to wait until next year!

I was confused...i had read confronting info about this...I read it´s completely illegal to keep any amphibian that is native to spain, no matter they are cb or imported or whatever. But then i read more or less what you just said....that as long as they are cb and you have a paper that proofs it...it´s ok.

Seeing that there are spanish ppl here that keep them i asume it´s legal to keep cb specimens.
I´ll wait til i find some spanish keeper here to make sure and get myself informed...and to see if i have a chance of making my dream true next spring.

Rodrigo, I got them from a breeder here in Holland, he has a couple left, but I doubt you'd drive all the way to Holland for them.
 
Oh thanx...but i´m a student which means i´m poor haha. I wonder if he would ship them though...Shipping costs will be high but definitely cheaper than taking a bus to holland :p
 
I don't think he'll be shipping them Rodrigo, plus, with a little patience you should be able to find some closer to home.
 
There´s actually someone who would sell me a pair next spring when youngsters metamorph....my only problem now is to find out if it´s legal or not...
