Hey

When I feed my 4 adult dobrogicus they quite often snap at each other.
And sometimes my female gets a bit of her tail bitten of.
I feed about every other day (so monday, wednesday, friday, sunday)

Is this normal?

I have found them to be very aggressive with each other. The fewer together in a tank, the better. I'm not sure if there is a sex issue (i.e. you could have more of one sex or if only one sex were there they would or would not fight).

From what I've seen after the last 30+ years It's normal here with them!!

All Triturus are aggressive at feeding time, in my experience. Larvae even more so.

I find the best way to avoid it is:

-Feed at multiple spots in the tank, so there's less chance of them seeing each other feeding

-Feed lots of small food items, instead of a few big ones, so they're all occupied with their own food, and have a better chance of swallowing it before any others notice it. If one is taking its time swallowing a massive earthworm, there's a good chance that another one will come over and nip at it...

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
