I am glad to introduce to all of you my breeding group of this newt specie. This is composed for two leucistic males and two females: one leucistic and the other is a normally coloured heterozigotic for this trait. They come from a donation two years ago and I raised them since the egg stage. Now are laying eggs and I provide plastic strips of plastic supermarket bags in the aquaria that the newts use for laying support. That system works fine for newts and for the health of the acuatic plants.

Hi Jordi, we don't allow imageshack because they imbed adverts in the images people display.

Sorry is my first post. I will try again...

Hola Jordi,

Those are amazing pics and amazing animals!!

these are STUNNING

It´s very different from the typical flavist carnifex you see around europe. I wonder if it´s an entirely different mutation or a related one with the same associated problems.

That last female is a beauty!

Glad of all your comments and that you enjoy them too!!
In these photos appears two different males, the first one in the three first photos already had a crest when he was only one year old. The second one did not develop dimorphic traits until second year, this winter.
I will train with the camera and try to participate in the calendar with one photo in the future, thanks for the proposal and support.
I specially like the contrast of their orange bellies with the pale back, is stunning!
I think Rodrigo means about the lethal genes related to the flavism recessive trait that causes weak individuals progeny born from homozigotic parentals.
I pass some pictures of the homozigotic flavist female that I forgot the other day...

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
