I have a C.e.p with what may be a problem around the mouth area. Has anybody ever seen something like this before? I think I would have noticed before if it had always been like this...

Have you tried any new foods lately? It could be some sort of allergic reaction. My dog's face looked like that when she got stung by a bee-she's allergic to them.

In fact, I just started using pellet food with them a couple of days ago to supplement the bloodworm. It was after I noticed this condition that I also started them on mysis. It's only this one newt that's afflicted. Actually, I was thinking it's face now does look a bit like that of a pooch!

Which would be laughable if indeed it's only an allergic reaction...

I would take that sick one and quarantine it. Use new water, so as to avoid any possible remaining allergens in the water. Put it back on just bloodworms, and see if the condition gets better. If so, you know that it's an allergy to another food. If you'd like to attempt to figure out what food it's allergic to, try just adding one of those and see what happens. If nothing happens, it must be the other food. If something does happen, clean out the tank and try the other food.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
