Switched to sand...

Hey there i bought some sand today and now have sand in my tank..
Banda is with me on my desk right now...(dont strees shes in big container)
The water in Banda's tank is really murky...She wants to know how long she will be in her container for. I have the filter going unsure wether this will help clear everything up or weither it makes it worse..

Any help here?

Did you wash/rinse the sand well? Either way, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days depending on how well the sand's rinsed. If it makes you more comfortable just wait till it clears.

You might have to keep an eye on the water parameters (ammonia/nitrite) in case your tank does a mini cycle (due to substrate being changed). That's to be expected, if you do notice a rise in either, just do a 20% waterchange every 2nd day.

I tried my best to rinse..we are on stage 4 water restriction so I was a bit naughty..

But sure thing ill keep an aye on those parameters

No water restrictions over the ditch I washed the sand for about an hour all up and it took about two hours for the sand to settle and the water to clear.

Thanks alot Banda dosent quite know what to do about all this sand..shes been digging at it,stomping, crawling around and sleeping lol. Maybe shes happy
