Swimming to the top

Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this topic has already been addressed, I read many threads, but didn't find a particular one that answered what's happening with my axie.
He is walking and swimming in the tank and then suddenly will swim to the surface, trying to get air or something from out of the water and then swims down. He was fine until today, generally swims a lot in the tank, eats well too.
I changed the water today, could it be that? Or does it have to do with oxygen or something? Is it normal?
Thanks!

That's normal. Axolotls, despite being permenantly gilled, do have rudimentary lungs, and occasionally go to the surface to gulp air. They'll do this more in a tank that doesn't have an airstone or a filter, but some do it even if there is a filter and airstone present. It's a normal activity, don't worry.
