Surprise newt

I keep two tropical aquariums as well as having 4 tanks with CFBN in various states of maturity. I was extremely surprised to discover a 2+cm larvae in my heavily planted guppy raising tank. My only explanation as to how it got in there is via a plant. I have a habit of removing plants, selecting the best and replacing them so there is a chance that a plant originally in with the Cynops ended up in the tropical aquarium, egg attached. This tank is kept at 25/26° constantly. The young fellow has been very elusive since I saw him two days ago and made a vain attempt at catching him (too many plants in the way!) I haven't spotted him since. Interestingly, he was much lighter in colour than his siblings and a bit larger in the larval state. The others of this size have all morphed. He obviously has been feeding on guppy fry. Is it unusual for a CFBN to survive/thrive under tropical conditions? The guppies don't seem to be suffering either (except that the fry population has been dwindling - at least I now know why!)

Interesting! It's not unusual for a larva to grow unassisted in a planted tank, even without the fish dinners - plants support lots of infusoria. As for the temperature, it's certainly not ideal, but if it's doing well I won't knock it!
