I'm sure you've heard it before: sold two animals supposedly of the same-sex, fast forward five months and boom wake-up one morning to find out they've bred. Well, it happened. Miss Peaches is not a girl. I've spent most of today researching how to raise them, which is how I ended up here. šŸ˜‚

Mum (leucistic) and dad (golden albino) and their eggs. They've since been harvested into a separate container.

It's day seven since they were laid and the embryos are starting to look axolotl shaped. :D

Looks like another week and the fun starts. Livefood is necessary, preferably your own supply. Local Aquarists would be a good source of cultures. Microworm, Grindal Worm, hatched Brine Shrimp, Daphnia/Moina, Bloodworm, Gnat Larvae. Anything that swims or wiggles in water.
It will be a struggle to raise them all. In the wild only one or two need to survive, be prepared- I see the irony . Your own pond and leave them to it maybe am option. Posting is a bit late, this does happen in the UK. Best of luck, learn for next time, or keep them separate.
Regards David

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
