Summer breeding of C. orientalis

Hi all, my orientalis have recently started laying eggs again. I've had them for several years now, and they've regularly deposited eggs in late winter/early spring, including this year. They stopped laying in April, and now suddenly more...anybody else had a double reproduction with them?

Happened to me also for the first time this year, Nate.
Funny thing is, I separated my animals into two groups in March following a cool period during winter. After a first egglaying in April and the beginning of May, both groups simultaneously started laying eggs again in July.

Interesting. I've not done anything different this year in terms of temperatures, lighting, or feeding regime. After so many years of a single egg-laying period, I wonder what has triggered this.

Maybe, and this comes from a noob compared to you, maybe you've had an exceptional climat this summer? Humidity changes perhaps. If that could influence your closed environment? Just guessing actually.

Anyway, nice surprise, I'm happy for you!

Thanks Joeri, I can't see any real changes in humidity or temperature from last year. It'll be interesting to see if this is going to happen again next year.
