Hi all!

I'm relatively new to aquarium keeping, and had a question on aquarium chillers. I am setting up and cycling a 40 gallon breeder tank for the two axos I have, and was thinking about buying an aquarium chiller to keep them cool in the summer. I was looking at the Active Aqua AACH10HP 1/10 HP chiller since it looks like it would fit the bill for an aquarium holding 35 gallons of water.

Would this work, and could anyone point me in the right direction to a water pump for the chiller that's axolotl friendly?

Here is the aquarium as of today. I started adding fish flakes for a fishless cycle on Tuesday, and a friend gave me their used filter media to jump start the cycle (it didn't fit the filter I bought, so I just hung it on the side). Today the readings were 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrites, and 10ppm nitrates.

Hi Shaxx_on_a_Sax,

I would get the largest chiller that you can afford. The larger the chiller, the less work it will take to chill the water.
The chiller you mentioned mentions it has a rate of flow of 132‒396 GPH. You'll have to find either a water pump or canister filter with an output between 132‒396 GPH. On the water return, I would use a spray bar or something that will diffuse the water coming out to reduce water turbulence. Hope this helps!
