Help! I kept 25 eggs from my female to hatch. 11 hatched (14 still have not hatched) and I fed them bbs yesterday and they ate them and had full, orange stomachs. I rinsed the shrimp 4-5 times before I fed them. This morning, I had 1 dead baby, and as of right now, all of them have died. I have no idea what happened! They were just fine this morning. The only thing I can see is that their tails are curled up. I have them in little tupperware containers and have done a complete water change every time I feed them. What could have caused these deaths? I'm kind of heart broken and want to find out why they died before the rest hatch out!

Is this your adults first batch of eggs???
Sometimes the first batch dont work out. When I raised my babies I changed the water before feeding time, that way I knew they would be alright for a few hours.
Hang in there

Did you separate the brine shrimp from the shrimp eggs/shells? Do you do water changes 2 hours after you feed them? How many do you have per container?

I don't think it was because of first time parents, since the babies were from 1-4 days old and all died within hours of each other. I had 5 in one contain and 6 in another container (I don't know how to explain the size off the top of my head...larger than a big jam jar, but smaller that a coffee can?). To get the bbs, I sucked them up from near the bottom with a turkey baster. I did my best to not get any eggshells in there, though a few made it in with them, but not many. I would change the water 1-2 hours after feeding. My only guess is that maybe the bbs were getting old? The culture took forever to hatch and then continued to hatch for about 2.5 days, so I used them for a few days, but they were definitely still alive and swimming.

1st spawns are known for having high mortality.

Could it be high temperature or water that was not dechlorinated?

No chlorine in the water. Water temp is about 70-71 F. Is this getting too high?

70 to 71 is top end of hot, my hatchlings have only been to 68(18) once, but generally the colder the better. I try to keep mines around 60f(16) but have had them at 50 f (10c). Some hatchlings can die for no apparent reason even though they may look well. Hope you have no more casualties, good luck.
