Hi everyone
Sadly, I lost my ensatina salamander today. He/she was seemingly very healthy and active last time I saw it yesterday, out in its terrarium hunting crickets. Tonight while feeding, I noticed it laying strangely, and when I went to move it, its skin sloughed off. Smelled very bad already, and seemed rotted from the inside out, very slimy. No visible fungal growth on the outside. I had rebuilt his terrarium a week ago, using various fairy garden plants from a trustworthy local nursery, and moss collected from my mother's back yard.
Does anybody have an idea of what might have caused this? Quite disappointing. Poor fella was such a little beauty. Any info that could help me avoid this situation in the future would be much appreciated.
