So I received my first batch of eggs to day. Melanoid female & leucistic gpf male parents. Question is all my embryos look black... so does that mean that's the color the babies will be?

Babies change colour rapidly once they hatch, but eggs laid by a melanoid (or any other non-albino) female will be black/brown to start with. My wildtype female laid black eggs, the albino babies started out grey-peach and lightenend up, my albino female laid white eggs and the wildtypes looked leucistic to start with, and darkened over the first week.

You may find they change colour in the last day or 2 before they hatch, or they may not - it very much depends on the genetics. With a melanoid x leucistic any colour is possible, but you'll probably end up with at least half wildtypes.

The colour of the eggs and embryo at first depends on the mother's colour. If she is Leucistic or Wildtype normally the eggs all start off as black. A few days after the eggs hatch is normally when you'll notice their different colours
