Today my boyfriend and I were playing in this swamp, and look what found me! A little Noto.
I named him "Stubby." He seemed like he wanted an easier life.

This was his former residence:

And we also found a mass of these, we guessed they're frogs, and took a picture of one that came loose:

All in all, a very good day!

Looks like you had a good herping day today, so did I, found 2 big redbacks, one was gravid! I posted some pics and a video just a second ago of them!

Hi Dane,
Sorry it took so long to catch up on this thread. It was a piece of property with mostly deciduous trees and some evergreens. Lots of leaves on the floor.
Here's a picture of Stubby now. I don't think his tail has changed, but he's gained a little, the good life had fattened him up a bit.

Well, sad news about the Stubbster. He really seemed to be doing well when I left on vacation, but when I came back he was just ... gone. His tank was always secure, so I'm sure he didn't elope, but it's natural and murky on the bottom. I'm thinking he probably died and decomposed, which they always seem to do very quickly. The person who came to feed my newts didn't notice anything.
Rats, I thought he was really doing well. I strained the tank contents three times hoping he was hiding, but he was definitely not in there.
I also lost two of my very hard-won Taricha granulosas. Those bodies she saw and froze for me, so I could give them a proper memorial and bury them in the newt cemetary.

On a better note, my larvae are growing, and I'll post them on their threads ("Gills" and "My totally unexpected eggs hatch").

Oh Sorry

I'm sorry to hear that. How long were you away? Oh well death is life, stubby could have also been really old and just died of age. Good luck with your larvae though.
