Stressed Axie!! Help!

Hi everyone! As I asked before on one of my threads, about transportation... I ended up bringing my axie to my beach house. It's in an air conditioned room, with clean water and a good sized tank. But of course, he's a bit stressed from the ride. I arrived here last wednesday (Dec.29th) and he ate the first few days, but then he stopped eating and it's only in the corners, won't eat anything. I don't know if there's anything I should do, just wait a few days for him to adjust, try giving him new food, or go back and take him to his usual tank (which I think maybe will stress him more...) any suggestions? THANKS!!

I bought a new axy home and she got really stressed

Turns out the temperature of the water was too high. Have you checked the temp?

if its just a few days that hes gone without feeding thatn i wouldnt worry too much about it. With the stress it might take a little while for him to go back on his food.

Thanks! I noticed he keeps moving his gills up and down, is that a symptom for something? He's not swimming, but stays in one corner doing this movement non stop.

Gabriela,

The flicking of his gills is normal, all axies do it, this is to push fresh water over them so they can breath.

Check the temps as they may be different from his last home and not liking it.

I bet hes just a bit stressed for now, let him be and keep offering food, but try all sorts not just his normal feed.. Earthworms, bloodworms, pellets, and if hes small enough live daphnia or brine shrimp.

Good luck!

They'll flutter their gills to circulate the water when they've used up the oxygen in the water closest to them. The movement brings fresh water with fresh oxygen to them, and saves the lazy creatures from actually having to move their WHOLE bodies

I don't know how much flicking of the gills is normal though- like Heather said, he may just be just taking his time adjusting to the move.
