Strange looking axolotl underside- please see pic

My axolotl Chico has always had a strange looking belly. It looks raw or clearer in certain areas. I'm afraid that with time it is getting a little worse. He is very healthy and it does not appear to bother him at all. Anyone have a clue what this is and how to treat it if necessary?

It almost looks like he has scraped himself doesn't it? Is there anything in his tank that he could be rubbing himself on?

If you have a bare bottomed tank make sure you wipe it over to avoid a bacterial build up, that can cause foot or belly infections. As the previous post stated, check for anything sharp/rough the axolotl can rub on.
