Hey!

I’ve noticed a strange growth on the gills of one of my axolotls a few month ago. I read few threads on the same topic and it seemed to be a blood vessel. Today I was cleaning the tank and I’ve noticed that the second axolotls got the same weird growth on both of his gills (this axolotl didn’t have such growth before). In addition they started having pink fingertips. So I’m very worried that it might be an infection which have spread to the second axi. And if those are just blood vessels, why did the second axolotls also got them and is it fine or they should be treated? Both of the axolotls seem fine, eating normally and I don’t think there was any problem with them apart from this abnormal growth on their gills and pink fingertips

I would highly appreciate any help if you know what this is

what are your water parameters? in particular ph, kh, gh.
enlarged blood vessels can be caused by injury, a blood clot, improper regrowth of gills due to water parameters.
because axolotls have a habit of nipping each other this is most likely the cause.
the pink tips on the digits are most likely caused by digging and scrambling about.
ensure that the water has a good amount of minerals and that they are receiving a balanced diet to ensure good blood flow and health.
