If it is illegal for you to keep them, then petstores wouldnt sell them. So where did you get them?

you think im a newt thief? no i got them from my friend, i said in previous posts that he always gives me some, i dont keep them then kill them i have 4 other smaller but older smooth newt from months ago, i dont lie people i think taking from the wild is bad and it un evens the balance in that location, it isnt illegal to keep them its illegal to sell/trade them in my area please dont get the wrong idea...

i only asked information about keeping smooth newts its because this one seems diffrent and im keeping them in the same tank, i got told its a palmate newt, turned out to be a smooth newt.

....back to the eggs...they look to be snail eggs, i have seen transparent ones in my tanks

Ben - if you really like newts I'd advise you to buy some captive bred ones and release the 5 T.Vulgaris at a suitable pond site. Newts in the UK have a hard enough time without people catching them for pets. If you really "love nature" you'll realise that those female newts are more use in the wild than in a tank in your house. Dig a pond in your garden and maybe one day you'll have your own wild newts to watch.

Im off to scarborough to see my dad soon and i will release it in the councils pond there it has load of other newts in and ill take pics of her..leaving thanks ben

plus if it was illegal for me to keep them do you think i would tell you guys that i have her? i wouldnt even mention Smooth newt if it was illegal...

I agree with Paris;
Those look alot like snail eggs! The only snails that I have ever had laid clear eggs. Looked exactly like those ones too.

Hi Ben - wow 70 post in 6 days...not bad going...
I wasn't questioning the legality of you keeping T.Vulgaris but more your morals in taking animals from the wild to keep as pets.

p.s. keep posting at that rate and you'll probably win a prize...

Ben -
I personally find the number of posts you have made in the week you have been a member of the forum ridiculous. In fact, I would go as far as to say you are posting just for the sake of posting. At least half of your messages are trivial nonsense, often times incomprehensible. Please do not make anymore frivolous posts - it is irritating to the other users of the forum and though you may like hearing yourself talk (in a manner of speaking) other people do not necessarily want to listen.

I would like request to the people a little of seriousness and scientific spirit: I have seen too many forums well-meaning but ridiculous on his contents.

This is a request for all the new people, although surely I'm not the person indicated to say it: I have always seen caudata.org like a place to deepen in previous knowledge, more than a divulging place. I'm not despising the disclosing, but sites with scientific value and simultaneously opened to the people, like this, are very rare.

I do not understand much of that post ruben M but i think this site rules all...
