Hi,

I currently have my axxies in a 65L tank but they are growing quicker than expected so I bought a 3ft tank the other day. I filled it with water which I treated with Nutrafin Cycle (helps to establish the biological filter) and then added the sand. Just waiting for the sand to settle which could take a few days as I wasn't overly careful pouring it in!!

The question I have is concerning the filter. I got a pump/filter with the tank but I feel it is too big (I would need to entirely fill the tank with water or have the filter at an angle so it was totally submerged and not in the sand and I don't know if they work as well not being upright) so I was going to move the filter/pump I have over to the new tank. Will it be okay to do this, and should I do it on the day I move Fat Harry and Narna over or before?

Thanks

It can depend on the filter, I have had a few on there sides, how deep/shallow are you having the water, most of mine are only a couple of inches below the water line, more water more stability.
And if possible either move there old filter over when you move them or use their filter media in your new one.

Was the old one cycled? Was it able to cope with the water conditions and keep them perfect in the other tank. (even if it wasn't cycled, it's still ahead of the game compared to the new one)

Oh and running the new filter in the new tank should help get rid of the sand/dust,
And a lot of the "cycling" products don't seem to speed the process up much/if at all
