So it's not exactly what I was planning on but I got a really good deal on a full tank setup so I couldn't pass it up. It's a 36 gallon bowfront, came with a waterfall filter so I'm giving it a chance hopefully its not too much current, if so I'll go get a sponge filter. Just cleaned and added the sand and filled it up, put in some water conditioner that came with the setup and have it filtering now. I'm going to be getting live plants but I figured I would give it a solid 24 hours before adding them. Plan to start cycling once the plants are in. Would love to get any comments or suggestions. Thanks

Looks good so far! If the filter makes a lot of current, you can diffuse it with some plants, or a water bottle cut in half Filter Currents: A Betta's Worst Nightmare

As far as plants go, try to get some hornwort (Francois on the forum sells it) and elodea/anacharis. These plants are super cheap and do an awesome job of cleaning the water.

Thanks! I was planning on getting some floating plants as well as planted so hopefully those will help the current, and I will look into those as well.

I absolutely LOVE bow fronted tanks - they're so beatiful. Lucky duck!

Umm... I would suggest possibly also getting reptile and amphibian friendly disinfectant to put on the glass on the tank as well as any inserts.

Looking good so far though!

El ;)

That was a brilliant tip 4 the filter, cheap & easy - thank U:smile::smile::smile::smile:

Is the water not a bit too high? there does not look much room at the top for them to swim up and breath!
