Stablising Water Levels

Were having real trouble keeping the levels in Elsa's tank stable.

It's as if it's doing mini cycles all the time, yet the tank has been established for years?

Any ideas guys?

Elsa is currently in the fridge as the nitrite is too high.

All poo is removed asap, the filter sponges washed in tank water when needed etc and loads of plants to keep everything down.

Don't get it!!

Hi Hayley, how are things going with your tank now?

Do you have any suspicions as to why your tank has been doing this? It sounds like you take very well care of your little axie and her tank

.

I hope things improve for you ^__^.

Hi Rheann,

I'm at uni at the moment, so I have to wait until my mom gets home from work to test the water and then I can call her.

I don't understand why this happens at all.

I might try feeding Elsa every other day instead of every day with a baby worm, maybe that will help?

Mom cleaned the filter sponges last night (in tank water

) having another detox whilst her tank mini-cycles.

What a pain! lol

A filter with more biological mnedium (e.g. bioballs, ceramic media, lava rock, etc.) or a larger tank should do the trick . I'd look at boosting the biological filter and keeping it low flow.

Thanks Michael, will have to wait for more funds unfortunately lol
