Squeaking Newt

I have previously written about my eccentric CFB named Bob. Recently there have been squeaking sounds coming from around/in the tank. I have noticed that whenever this happens, Bob is sitting on the rock looking all attentive.

Do newts make sounds, or should I be looking for some other creature somewhere in my room?! It seems to happen around dusk and occassionally at night too.

The only newts I've ever had make a sound were Triturus, which squeak occasionally when harassed.

My pond newts squeak if I pick them up or if a snake gets in the pond. Sounds very similar to a guinea pig squeaking.

yes i've heard lissotriton vulgaris do it. i don't know if triturus squeak though...

Triturus do squeak. I imagine all of the new genera that were formerly Triturus have this same 'squeak'. It does sound like a small rodent, mouse or guinea pig. I don't know about C.o., but They've got basically the same build. Why not?

Yeah, my T.g.'s bark all the time. I hear them at least twice a day.

I've heard my Cynops orientalis croak

My C.O. has squeaked twice, so yea, its possible. =)

mine only sqeacked because i had to pick it up,i think he/she was scared.
