Spring is in the Air in Ayr, no pun intended, and everythings begining to 'wake' up. So I took a look outside for the first time in what seems like years.

Although it was a lovely sunny day, night came quicker than expected so these photos are all in relatively dull light. But yes I found a few patches of spawn around the garden and a common frog or two. No newts unfortunately, the pond has goldfish in it so they don't go near it.

I even took some from a dried up puddle, so we'll see who they do and I'll release them into one of the vernal ponds once I fill it up.

So nothing special but it's a nice change from the rain! Perhaps you all could post some photos of the developing spring in your area.

I am almost jealous of your frog spawn. In (western) Washington state we have had a very late spring. Each year around January I start to want to go frog "hunting" and I know it is too early. I tried not to get too ahead of myself this year and I actually waited until March before I headed out to the vernal ponds and would you believe, it snowed the next day! I have lived here for 37 years, and I don't think I remember snow in March, ever. I could use some of your spring! I know the frogs and sallies will wait until the temp is higher and the frost is over, but I am getting anxious. Great pictures.

Thanks, I was actually really suprised at how much there was in that pond, it covered nearly half the entire thing. It's been a very early spring for us this year, normally it doesn't warm up till late april so I can understand your anxiousness.
