Finally they are breeding today.
Following a cold winter with hibernation temps around oC the tigers are breeding.
This is a real northern form. As soon as temps in early March gave the opportunity to fill water in a large aquarium without giving anything but a thin nightly iceformation, the 4 males were put into the water. 4 days later the 2 females were put in and the male started courtship. Now today as the spring sun entered the window and the aquarium, I found both females deposit eggs on stones and wood. Very exciting! I guess the real work has just begun....

Sorry, no pictures.

Nice nice! I look forward to follow your hopefully success.

Best of luck!

Good to hear. Can you give more details about the breeding conditions? How large is the aquarium? What is the water temperature right now? How long have you had these animals in captivity?

Aquarium is 250 x 50 x 50cm. 20 cm water level, no gravel just stones and some wood. Water temp early march when they entered water was around 2C. This morning it was 8C. This was also the temp for egg deposit. I did witnes the egg deposit. Maybe the sunshine who entered the water thrugh the window triggered egg laying?

Anyways, the adults are wild caught animals from 2010. If I can get them to breed next winter and ultimate breed the F1 I will be more proud.

The Nothos in the aquarium next to the tigers also seems ready for breeding and my Hyla arborea have also waken up :)

Appearently my own tigers here dont enter land. Im sure I could have feed them even more. Various smaller specimens have been given away. The biggest ones are big. This one does seem to have reduced the gills a lot by now.

A friend got some he claims are even bigger but they enter land now. There is a lot of action in raising tigers. Only hoping to make some diaboli next year.

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
