I know I seen on here somewhere about putting a spray bar on a filter to reduce water flow. But I cant find it now. please help.......

Here is a pic of my tank set up so far and the filter I am using.. It has way to much current and I dont know how to fix this problem and my babies are due here Tuesday.

I have a tetra 10i, which is somewhat similar in terms of the "waterfall" effect. I currently placed some fake plants where the water flows to disrupt it from creating a big current. It may help a little bit, but not entirely.

Hi Terri,

This link takes you to the thread on spray bars  ... I hope.

Another couple of ideas if the spray bar doesnt work out for you:

The water seems to be coming down from a height of a few inches, if you bring the water level up there will be less distance for the water to fall, this may help impede the flow. You would need to get a lid to cover the tank though as axies can and do jump.

I'm not sure what your caves are made of, but if sturdy enough you could put some aquarium safe large river stones on top of the cave and have the water flow hit the rock before it hits the water to interupt the current.

I'll have a cup of coffee and let you know if I come up with anything else after caffeine. ;)

Cheers Jacq.

Thank you Jacq

Was just trying to keep the water level from being to high, cause I read somewhere that they like to have room between water surface and lid to come up. But I will put more water in tank as well as more fake plants where the water is coming down. My babies wont be here till Tuesday and they were only catched in Jan. I dont know how long they are yet but very excited to have them here.

Any other ideas would be great. I too need caffeine to think LOL

I also have a similar filter for my tank, to prevent the flow being too hard I have the water up to an inch from the "waterfall" and I also have bought a hidey place from wal-mart with some silk plants attached to it and placed it underneath.

I know which hiding thing you got at walmart lol. I bought same one but after inspecting it I notice some sharp edges on the log part and decided to give it to my daughter for her Fat Tailed Getgo and just put 2 round smooth caves in my tank instead. I raised the water level but still have to much current so I will try adding fake plants under the waterfall and my hubby is a machinist and he is going to make a "gutter" style catch with holes drilled in it and hope that works.

Thank you
