Spotted salamander nymph shedding?

It looks like it is doing well. Are you sure that it is a spotted salamander and not a marbled salamander? I guess in a couple more weeks it will be clear.
You know you might be right. I was looking at him today and he looks more mottled than spotted. Literally last week it looked like yellow spots but when I was feeding him this evening he definitely looks like he might be a marbled salamander. Will post more pics as he grows!

Do you mean outside greens? We have grass, moss, dandelions, tons of different flowers. We live in a wooded area. Yours is SO cute! 🥰
I actually have about ten different types of tanks set up that i use to move mine around ... I'll try to attach a photo of my 10 gallon "swamp" tank where mama has been laying eggs ... This tank is only leaves, sticks and about two to three inches of water ... Mama seems happy with her set up as I test my waters weekly, papa is in a different type of set up, with substrate a few leaves and sticks

I'd keep him on the damp paper towels to make sure he's passing food only cause it's easier to spot.

So that’s awesome! So water at the bottom instead of a substrate is better? I was going to wet the substrate and change it out monthly. However if you think water at the bottom is better I could do that.

No, do not use water at the bottom. There is still uncertainty about what species you have and regardless opacum and maculatum are both terrestrial as adults and opacum is completely so (maculatum returns to water to breed).
